Report: J.K. Dobbins Has ‘A Chance’ To Play In Broncos-Patriots AFC Championship Game

Dobbins' potential return would be a big boost for the Broncos

The Denver Broncos lost starting quarterback Bo Nix to a season-ending ankle injury during their AFC Divisional Round win against the Buffalo Bills.

Backup signal-caller Jarrett Stidham could reportedly have the Broncos’ leading rusher back on the field for the team’s AFC Championship Game vs. the New England Patriots, however.

ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Monday afternoon that Denver was opening the practice window for starting running back J.K. Dobbins ahead of Sunday’s contest.

“Sources: Broncos are opening the practice window for RB J.K. Dobbins, who suffered what was thought to be a season-ending foot injury in Week 10 against the Raiders. Dobbins has a chance to play in Sunday’s AFC championship game vs. the Patriots,” Schefter posted on X.

The oft-injured Dobbins finished the regular season with team highs in rushing attempts (153) and rushing yards (772), adding four scores on the ground across 10 games.

He recorded at least 11 carries and 40 rushing yards in each of his first 10 contests in a Broncos uniform and had a pair of 100-yard outings as well.

Rookie second-round pick RJ Harvey stepped into the starting role when Dobbins went down and finished the regular season with 146 carries for 540 yards and seven touchdowns in 17 games. Harvey was also a bigger receiving threat than Dobbins, posting 47 catches for 356 yards and five scores through the air.

The 24-year-old paced Denver in touches (193) and total touchdowns (12) during the regular season and finished Saturday’s win vs. Buffalo with six rushing attempts for 20 scoreless yards and five receptions for 46 yards.
