Seahawks’ Sam Darnold On Injury Report Before Patriots Super Bowl Clash

Darnold continues to deal with an oblique injury

The Seattle Seahawks will face the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX, but Sam Darnold is not at 100% right now.

Darlond, like Drake Maye for the Patriots, was listed as limited on the injury report estimation with an oblique injury. Darnold has been a limited participant ever since right before the Seahawks Divisional Round game.

The oblique injury has not slowed him down much. He went 25-for-36 in the NFC Championship Game and had 346 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Seahawks’ elite defense and run game did most of the heavy lifting in the Divisional Round.

Darnold will get an extra week to heal up since there is no game on Sunday. The same goes for Patriots quarterback Maye, who popped up on the injury report with a new shoulder injury. The Patriots sophmore quarterback and head coach Mike Vrabel have assured people it’s nothing to worry about.

However, the Super Bowl will be the biggest game of both Darnold and Maye’s lives, and neither being 100% could impact the game, even if so ever slightly.

Darnold’s oblique injury will be worth monitoring throughout the week. He has been limited for a while now, and he could be upgraded to a full participant at any time. Maye, whose injury is new, may be limited all the way into the Super Bowl.

The Patriots will take the field on Thursday for practice as they look to bring home the seventh Lombardi Trophy in franchise history, and the first without Tom Brady and Bill Belichick.
