Tom Brady Would Love These Familiar Quotes From Patriots Stars
They sounded just like Brady
When people asked Tom Brady which Super Bowl victory was his favorite, he would always say, “The next one.”
That kind of relentless drive helped him win an NFL record seven Super Bowl rings, including six with the New England Patriots. He was always looking forward and working towards a new goal rather than getting complacent with his success or dwelling on the past.
Brady’s retired now, so there are no more Super Bowls left for him to win. A new generation of Patriots are on the cusp of one, however, led by Drake Maye, Stefon Diggs and others.
In fact, Maye and Diggs took a page out of Brady’s book during their media sessions last week leading up to the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos.
When asked by a reporter if he had a favorite throw from Maye so far this season, Diggs said, “The next one.”
When asked about his favorite throw of the season, Maye said the same thing. “Probably the next deep one. Throwing the next deep ball, always look forward,” Maye replied.
Brady would love those quotes and the mindset they represent. Maye and Diggs have accomplished a lot in their first season together, but they aren’t satisfied. No wonder they’ve won 15 of their last 16 games.
After all, New England’s season isn’t over yet. Ask Maye and Diggs the same question again in a few weeks, and they might say Maye’s Super Bowl-winning throw, if there is one. But until then, hopefully the best is yet to come.
