Caitlin Clark Goes Viral For Sour Reaction To Payton Pritchard Comparison

Pritchard caught a stray here.

WNBA superstar and global icon Caitlin Clark made her broadcasting debut on Sunday as part of NBC’s Sunday Night Basketball team. And she somehow managed to throw shade at Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard without saying a word.

Fans all over social media have noticed that when NBC’s Reggie Miller compared Clark’s game to Pritchard’s on-air, Clark’s PC smile instantly turned into a scowl.

Pritchard definitely doesn’t deserve the hate here, even if Clark would rather be compared to people like Pistol Pete Maravich.

Pritchard is the reigning Sixth Man of the Year in the NBA, and he’s turned into one of the most reliable assets in the entire league.

Payton has stepped into a larger role this season amid roster changes and injuries, including Jayson Tatum’s Achilles issue. Through 47 games played, the 28-year-old guard has posted career-high averages of 16.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, while playing 32.6 minutes per contest. He’s shooting 45.6% from the field, 35.2% from three-point range, and 85.9% from the free-throw line, delivering consistent production as a starter.

Pritchard’s scoring bursts have stood out, with notable performances including a 29-point outing (12-16 FG, 5-6 3PT) and eight assists in a dominant 112-93 win over the Sacramento Kings on January 30, and 23 points in a victory against Portland. He has also recorded a 32-point game and even a 42-point explosion earlier in the season.

One unique mark he leads the league in is games with 25+ points and zero free-throw attempts, showcasing his efficiency inside the arc and from deep without relying on fouls.

Overall, Pritchard’s career with the Celtics, since being drafted 26th overall in 2020, spans six seasons and 394 regular-season games entering this year.
