David Pastrnak Details Why He’s ‘Happy’ With Where Bruins Are At Entering Olympic Break

Boston is holding onto a playoff spot

Boston Bruins star forward David Pastrnak is pleased with how the team is doing at the Olympic break.

The NHL is on break until Feb. 25, and the Bruins enter the Olympic break holding onto a playoff spot. Entering the season, Boston was predicted to miss the playoffs, so Pastrnak is thrilled with how the team has played.

“Definitely happy with where we are,” Pastrnak said after Boston’s shootout loss to the Florida Panthers on Wednesday. “We are in the playoffs right now. Before the season, if you say that heading into the break we’re going to be in a playoff position, we will all take it.

“Lot of space to improve as a team and the way we play. But at the same time, we are in a good spot and we put ourselves in a good spot heading into the last 20 or so games.”

Pastrnak, meanwhile, is set to head to Italy and be a key part of Czechia’s men’s Olympic ice hockey team. The Bruins star forward, meanwhile, will also be Czechia’s flag-bearer for the opening ceremonies on Friday.

Boston is 32-20-5 and holding onto the final wild card spot. The Bruins are four points up on the Columbus Blue Jackets, as Boston was able to pick up two points in their two-game road trip to Florida.

The Bruins will host the Blue Jackets in a pivotal Eastern Conference showdown on Feb. 26 in Boston’s first game after the Olympic break.
