Giants Reportedly Hire New Offensive Coordinator

A new regime in New York.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the New York Giants are hiring Matt Nagy to be their next offensive coordinator under new head coach John Harbaugh.

Nagy’s football coaching career has spanned high school, college-level prep roles, and prominent NFL positions, marked by steady progression within Andy Reid’s influence and a mix of successes and challenges.

After starting as a quarterbacks coach at Manheim Central High School in 2001 and later at Cedar Crest and Palmyra Area high schools, Nagy entered the NFL in 2008 with the Philadelphia Eagles as a coaching intern under Reid. He advanced through roles as coaches’ assistant and offensive quality control coach from 2010 to 2012.

In 2013, Nagy followed Reid to the Kansas City Chiefs, serving as quarterbacks coach through 2015 and then as offensive coordinator from 2016 to 2017. His work helped develop the Chiefs’ offense during Patrick Mahomes’ early emergence.

In 2018, Nagy became head coach of the Chicago Bears. He led the team to a 12-4 record and an NFC North title in his first season, earning a playoff berth (the Bears’ first division crown since 2010). Over four years (2018–2021), Chicago posted a 34-31 record with two playoff appearances but struggled in later seasons, culminating in a 6-11 finish in 2021, after which he was let go.

Nagy returned to the Chiefs in 2022 as senior assistant and quarterbacks coach, then reclaimed the offensive coordinator role from 2023 to 2025. During this period, the team achieved strong results, including a Super Bowl win in the 2023 season and another title game appearance in 2024, though the 2025 campaign ended at 6-11. His contract expired, and the Chiefs moved on, hiring Eric Bieniemy as his replacement.
