Jets Reportedly Hire New Offensive Coordinator

A new offensive mind in New York.

The New York Jets fired a ton of staff following their disappointing 3-14 season, the first campaign under head coach Aaron Glenn.

Glenn is sticking around, but most of the coaches beneath him were canned, including offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand, who’s already found a new home.

The Jets didn’t waste time filling their vacant OC position. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that New York is hiring former Carolina Panthers and Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich as their next offensive coordinator.

Reich has built a lengthy NFL coaching career marked by progression through assistant roles to head coaching positions and now a return as offensive coordinator.

Beginning in the mid-2000s with the Colts in entry-level positions, Reich advanced to quarterbacks coach and later held wide receivers coaching duties with the Arizona Cardinals and San Diego Chargers. He assumed offensive coordinator responsibilities with the Chargers in 2014 and 2015, then joined the Philadelphia Eagles in the same capacity from 2016 to 2017, contributing to their Super Bowl LII championship.

Reich earned his first head coaching opportunity with the Colts in 2018, compiling a 40-33-1 record over five seasons that included two playoff berths. His tenure concluded midway through 2022 following a 3-5-1 start.

In 2023, Reich accepted the head coaching job with the Panthers, but the team struggled to a 1-10 record before his midseason dismissal.

After stepping away from coaching in 2024, Reich resurfaced in college football as Stanford’s interim head coach in 2025, posting a 4-8 mark prior to shifting into a senior advisory position.
