What did Perkins say now?
The Boston Celtics are in the middle of a battle against the New York Knicks on Super Bowl Sunday. In an unsurprising development, though, one of the team’s former players, Kendrick Perkins, has caught the attention of fans after delivering yet another bold claim.
Perkins spent the first seven-plus seasons of his career in the NBA playing for the C’s, helping them win the 2008 NBA Finals. He bounced around the league over the remainder of his career and has since transitioned into the world of sports media.
In his post-playing career, Perkins has become notorious for saying whatever comes to his mind, no matter how ridiculous it may be. When speaking about Boston, Perkins recently declared that he was confident that if he ever got fired by ESPN, he’d be able to land on his feet in the city he used to call home.
“If ESPN fired me today, I would lose no sleep. You know why? Because somebody in Boston would hire me,” Perkins boldly declared on “NBA Countdown.” “It wouldn’t have to be in the organization, but somewhere around the city.”
This is such an interesting claim because Perkins hasn’t exactly remained on the good side of the Celtics and their fans. Perkins has bashed the team at times over the past few years, while also delivering some mind-numbing takes that leave folks speechless.
For now, Perkins appears entrenched at ESPN, but if he ever does end up leaving for whatever reason, his confidence in the city of Boston may prove shortsighted. Here’s hoping he doesn’t have to find out anytime soon.
