Mike Vrabel Shares His Message To Patriots Following Super Bowl Loss

'I told them that I'm appreciative of them'

The New England Patriots’ improbable season ended in heartbreak…

New England suffered an atrocious defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on Sunday, watching its chances at ultimate glory slowly fade into a nightmarish couple of hours that included perhaps the worst game of the season from its most important people — Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel.

Vrabel was asked what his message was to the team following the game, and gave an answer that tracks with other messages sent throughout the season.

“I’m proud of everything they did,” Vrabel said, per video provided by CLNS’ Mike Kadlick. “I’m disappointed just like they are. I reminded them that we’re 307 days into what is hopefully a long and successful relationship and program. It’s okay to be disappointed. We have to be disappointed and upset together.

“I told them that I’m appreciative of them. I’m thankful, grateful that I get to coach them. Part of our identity is to not be a front-runner. Every year somebody is going to lose this game, and we have to remember what it feels like and make sure it’s not repeated.”

Maye, who ultimately improved his statistics in garbage time, was sacked six times and turned the ball over three times in a contest that was never really all that close — despite there being a moment of belief early in the fourth quarter.

Vrabel made the odd decision to kick the extra point despite being down 12 points in the fourth quarter, killing his club’s chances at tying the game with one more touchdown and a field goal — though it ultimately didn’t matter as the game concluded 29-13.

It’ll serve as a learning moment for both men, who now restart their climb back to the mountaintop after coming within feet of reaching it…
