New England has to boost the offensive line this offseason
The New England Patriots didn’t achieve the storybook ending they had hoped for, falling short against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX on Sunday.
Now, the focus shifts to the offseason as the Patriots look to enhance their roster for the upcoming season.
It’s clear that improving the offensive line is a priority, and Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox suggested that New England should consider signing veteran offensive linemen Tyler Linderbaum and Braden Smith.
“The Patriots must target free agents like Baltimore Ravens center Tyler Linderbaum and Indianapolis Colts right tackle Braden Smith,” Knox wrote on Monday. “They must also consider draft prospects like Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu and Texas A&M interior lineman Chase Bisontis.”
Linderbaum has played in the NFL since 2022 and has made the Pro Bowl in each of the past three seasons. With Linderbaum’s head coach, John Harbaugh, and offensive coordinator, Todd Monken, no longer with the Ravens, there’s a good chance the team might not consider signing him back this offseason.
Smith is slightly older than Linderbaum and currently finished his eighth season. If the Patriots decide to sign Smith, they might keep him at right tackle or move him to left tackle, allowing them to shift Will Campbell from left tackle to guard.
