Patriots Defense Planning ‘Aggressive Violence’ For Super Bowl LX

'We're going to take our respect'

The New England Patriots’ defense can force the world to acknowledge them by spearheading a Super Bowl LX win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Drake Maye elevated the Patriots throughout an MVP-caliber regular season, but the defense paved their path to Santa Clara. New England has allowed 26 combined points in three playoff wins, yielding 209.7 total yards per game.

That unit won’t take its foot off the pedal at Levi’s Stadium. NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe relayed their intentions for Super Bowl Sunday.

“The Patriots’ defense’s mission today: Play with aggressive violence and take the world’s respect,” Wolfe said.

Per Wolfe, Patriots defensive tackle Milton Williams likened Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold to C.J. Stroud. The Patriots intercepted Stroud four times in an AFC Divisional Round victory over the Houston Texans, and Williams believes they can also force Darnold into costly mistakes.

“Williams said the plan is, ‘We’re going to speed up his clock with our pass rush, and we’re confident he will put the ball in harm’s way like C.J. did,'” Wolfe said.

Wolfe added that the Patriots are prepared to “blitz heavy” and take away Seattle’s ground game. With much of the attention going to opposing defenses throughout the playoffs, they’re hungry to make a grand statement.

“Williams told me, ‘We’re a bunch of castoffs who nobody believed in,'” Wolfe relayed. “‘But we’re going to get our respect. We’re going to take our respect with violence today, and they’re gonna have to give it to us when we win the Super Bowl.'”

The Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
