Patriots Drake Maye Ranked Second-Best Starter In Super Bowl LX; Who’s No. 1?

Who is better than Drake Maye?

The New England Patriots will face off against the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX, and the game will have no shortage of star players.

Drake Maye is an MVP candidate and established himself as one of the best players in the NFL this season. However, CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco thinks he’s the second-best starter in this year’s Super Bowl.

Prisco named Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba the top player in this year’s Super Bowl. Smith-Njigba led the league in receiving yards, scored 10 touchdowns and was a First-Team All-Pro this season. However, it was Maye’s playoff performance for the Patriots that cost him the top spot.

“He will finish in one of the two top spots in the MVP voting, which tells you the type of season he’s had,” wrote Prisco on Monday. “But he hasn’t been great in the playoffs, which has to be a bit of a concern.”

Maye had 4,394 passing yards and 31 passing touchdowns in the regular season. He added 450 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns as well. He led the league in completion percentage, passer rating and quarterback rating. The Patriots quarterback was named a Second-Team All-Pro.

In the playoffs, Maye has a 55.8% completion percentage, 553 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, 1414 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown in three games. The Patriots have won all three games, but Maye has not looked as sharp as he did in the regular season.

However, it is worth noting that the Patriots have faced three of the best defenses in the league and also played in two games with unfavorable conditions for passing the football.

Smith-Njigba is a great player, but Maye plays the most important position on the field, and has played it at an elite level this season.
