Patriots Legend Has Funny Theory For Tom Brady’s Bizarre Super Bowl Pick

Gronk explains Brady's weird take

Tom Brady caused quite a stir this week by saying on Monday’s episode of his “Let’s Go” podcast that he “doesn’t have a dog in the fight” for this year’s Super Bowl.

That’s a bizarre thing for him to say after spending two decades with the New England Patriots and winning six Super Bowls for them.

Not surprisingly, Brady’s comments have drawn a ton of criticism from Patriots fans, reporters and former players, including several of his old teammates. Many ex-New England stars have voiced their support for the Patriots and Mike Vrabel in the Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks, but not Brady.

On Wednesday’s episode of “Up And Adams,” New England legend and NFL analyst Rob Gronkowski explained why he’s backing the Patriots and had a funny theory for why Brady isn’t.

“I’m rooting for the Patriots,” Gronkowski told Kay Adams. “What’s great about the Patriots being in the Super Bowl is that it’s bringing back how dominant the Patriots are. There’s a lot of fans out there that are mad that the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl, which is great for us.”

When Adams asked why Brady isn’t supporting the Patriots, Gronkowski said the following.

What do you think?  Leave a comment.

“I don’t know. I’m not Tom. I haven’t talked to him since the Patriots have been in the Super Bowl,” Gronkowski admitted. “He probably wants to be the quarterback. He’s that competitive. He probably wants to be the guy in the Super Bowl right now.”

There’s probably some truth to that. Brady is hyper competitive and is the only quarterback in New England history to win a Super Bowl. Even at age 48, he recently said he thinks he could still play.

Realistically, Brady was probably trying to avoid controversy now that he’s an NFL owner and broadcaster. If so, that strategy has backfired spectacularly.
