Patriots Predicted To Steal Starting Lineman From Packers

Rasheed Walker could be an interesting target

The New England Patriots’ offensive line did not play well in the Super Bowl, and the team could look to make changes this offseason.

Mike Vrabel has already noted that Will Campbell will remain at tackle moving forward, despite some inconsistent play last season. However, right tackle could be a different story. Morgan Moses played well last season and was a great leader. However, he is going to be 35 soon.

He has a $10.4 million cap hit next season, and the Patriots could save some money by replacing him. Fox Sports’ Greg Auman predicted the Patriots would sign Rasheed Walker from the Green Bay Packers, which would mean Moses or Campbell would be out of a job.

“Walker, who turns 26 this week, is a former seventh-round pick who developed into a three-year starter at left tackle for the Packers, protecting Jordan Love’s blind side,” wrote Auman on Thursday. “He isn’t great — Pro Football Focus rated him as the NFL’s No. 54 tackle last season — but he’s consistent and experienced enough to merit $20 million a year in free agency. It’s possible Green Bay will let him walk and shift 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan into his spot.”

Walker has been the Packers’ starting left tackle since 2023. If Campbell figures to stay at left tackle, Walker would need to take over at right tackle, something he has not done in the NFL.

Walker is a solid starter and could be an upgrade over Moses. However, how he will play at right tackle is somewhat of an unknown. However, he gives the Patriots another option at left tackle if Campbell struggles and the offensive line needs to be shuffled.

The Packers already have his replacement ready in Morgan, so it may be unlikely that they spend big to re-sign him.
