Diggs tore his ACL last season
The New England Patriots are getting ready for the Super Bowl, but that’s not the only major athletic event in the news.
The Winter Olympics are underway, and American Skier Lindsey Vonn is attempting to compete with a torn ACL. Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs tore his ACL last season and spoke on Vonn’s attempt.
“It’s crazy that anybody who has torn their ACL, they know like a week or a couple days maybe sometimes, people can run,” Diggs told reporters on Wednesday. “People can do whatever they need to do once they get the swelling out. So, it’s kind of a weird injury. As long as you’re not cutting and deceling, I think she should be fine. If she’s at the Olympics, she’s obviously an amazing athlete. Shout out to her, her mental toughness and whatever she’s going through. Hopefully, she can go out there, give it her best. As long as she doesn’t have to stop and decel, I think she’ll be all right. Fingers crossed, prayers to her and hope it goes well.
Vonn injured her knee in a crash last Friday, and later announced she tore her ACL, had a bone bruise and a meniscus tear. However, she is not letting that stop her. She still plans to compete on Sunday, according to USA Today’s Nancy Armour and Rachel G Bowers.
Vonn has posted videos of he working out on Instagram after revealing she tore her ACL. She is confident she can compete.
Vonn is already an Olympic Gold Medalist. According to USA Today, her plan is to compete in the downhill event on Sunday and make decisions on the team combined and super-G later.
Diggs knows firsthand how difficult an ACL tear can be. He was able to recover from his surgery and return to the field this season. He made a huge impact for the Patriots, and Vonn will be looking to overcome her injury in the Winter Olympics.
