Shough was named Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year
Tyler Shough was named Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year over New England Patriots TreVeyon Henderson and four other finalists.
Shough, Henderson, Jaxson Dart, Ashton Jeanty, Tetairoa McMillan and Carson Schwesinger were the finalists for the award. The winner was voted on by fans, and Henderson still has a chance to win the Associated Press NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year at the NFL Honors.
Henderson was named to the Professional Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team earlier this year. Henderson played in 17 regular-season games, but made just four starts. His starts came when Rhamondre Stevenson was out. Henderson had 911 rushing yards, 221 receiving yards and 10 total touchdowns.
He posted over 1,000 scrimmage yards as a rookie and has been a huge part of the Patriots’ success. However, it was not easy for Henderson early in the season. He started to earn more opportunities when Stevenson was out and had 805 of his total yardage after Week 8.
Henderson was one of the best rookies in the NFL. He is up against Dart, Emeka Egbuka, McMillan and Shough for the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
In the closing odds on DraftKings Sportsbook, Henderson has the second-best odds to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. McMillan is the heavy favorite.
While the other nominees await the award, Henderson is getting ready for the Super Bowl. He would likely rather have a ring than the award anyway.
