Red Sox Fans Can’t Believe How Big Garrett Crochet Looks In New Photo

Crochet may have put on some muscle.

It’s hard to make 6-foot-4, 235-pound Aroldis Chapman look small in a photograph, but Boston Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet just pulled it off.

In a newly surfaced photo, Crochet (listed at 6-fot-6, 245 pounds) is standing next to Chapman and looks powerful by comparison, and Red Sox fans aren’t sure what to say other than wow.

Crochet and Chapman, of course, both had big seasons for Boston in 2025, each of their debut campaigns with the club.

Crochet made 32 starts in 2025, posting an 18-5 record with a 2.59 ERA over 205.1 innings. He led the American League (and MLB) with 255 strikeouts, while his 1.03 WHIP ranked among the league’s best.

Crochet earned All-Star honors, finished second in Cy Young voting, placed eighth in MVP balloting, and secured a spot on the All-MLB First Team. His dominance included strong outings like a shutout performance late in the year and a playoff gem in the AL Wild Card Series opener against the Yankees, where he struck out 11 over 7.2 innings in a win.

Chapman, at age 37, delivered one of the most effective relief campaigns of his long career as the Red Sox closer. In 67 appearances, he went 5-3 with 32 saves, a 1.17 ERA, and 85 strikeouts over 61.1 innings. His 0.70 WHIP reflected exceptional command, limiting opponents to minimal damage.

Chapman earned an All-Star selection, Cy Young votes, MVP consideration, and All-MLB First Team recognition, plus AL Reliever of the Year honors. He closed out key wins, including striking out two in the ninth of that same Wild Card Game 1 victory over New York.
