Seahawks Coach Confirms New Job After Super Bowl Win Over Patriots

'I'm fired up about it'

A Seattle Seahawks staffer can celebrate a new job on top of a Super Bowl victory.

The Seahawks bullied the New England Patriots in Sunday’s 29-13 victory at Santa Clara. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak addressed his future in a post-game interview with the NFL Network’s Stacey Dales.

Unless he was talking about hitting the casinos, Kubiak confirmed reports that he’ll be the Las Vegas Raiders’ next head coach.

“You guys know I’m going to Las Vegas,” Kubiak said. “I’m fired up about it.”

Kubiak doubled down when Dales pressed for further verification.

“Hell yeah, I’m going,” Kubiak said. “Of course I’m going.”

The Seahawks averaged 28.4 points per game in Kubiak’s first season. Sam Darnold delivered an encore on his 2024 breakout, amassing 4,048 passing yards with a career-high 67.7 percent completion rate and 8.5 yards per pass attempt.

Seattle scored 101 points in three playoff wins without committing a single turnover. Darnold notched a 102.4 quarterback rating, and Kenneth Walker III ran his way to Super Bowl LX MVP honors with 135 rushing yards.

Kubiak, who previously worked for four other NFL teams (Vikings, Broncos, 49ers and Saints), parlayed that success into his first head coaching job. He’ll replace Pete Carroll, who had led the Seahawks to their other Super Bowl title.

The Raiders began Carroll’s tenure with a Week 1 victory over the Patriots. While Mike Vrabel went on to win Coach of the Year and an AFC title, Carroll lost his job after a 3-14 season.

Kubiak will now work alongside Raiders minority owner Tom Brady, who caused controversy by initially refusing to reveal a Super Bowl rooting interest. The new head coach could immediately face a dicey situation amid rumors of star pass rusher Maxx Crosby wanting to leave the team.
