Stefon Diggs Sends Drake Maye Message After Patriots’ Embarrassing Loss

Maye did not play well in the Super Bowl

The New England Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the Seattle Seahawks 29-13 on Sunday night.

Drake Maye did not have his best game and struggled for most of the night. A couple of late touchdowns somewhat salvaged his stat line, but it was an otherwise disappointing end to a great season.

Stefon Diggs, who was the Patriots’ best receiver during the season, spoke about his quarterback after a rough outing by the team.

“Keep going. Steph Curry. Keep shooting,” Diggs said after the game, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. “He’s 23 years old. It’s a team effort. From my standpoint, I wish I could’ve done more. It’s hard playing quarterback. It’s not a one-man band. He has a supporting cast. We needed to do a better job supporting him.

“He’s young, he did what he could, fought long, fought hard… I’m just super proud of him.”

Maye finished with 295 yards, going 27-for-43, with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He also led the team in rushing yards with 37.

Maye was the MVP runner-up and was named Second-Team All-Pro last season. However, he did not have a strong postseason. Diggs, who is still chasing his first Super Bowl, believes Maye is the right man to help him win his first ring.

As Diggs noted, Maye is very young and figures to have a long career ahead of him. He led the Patriots to the Super Bowl in just his second season. After winning just four games in 2024, the Patriots won 14 games last season in Mike Vrabel’s first season with Maye.

Diggs is under contract and figures to be back next season. He and Maye will have a chance to put up great numbers again and help the Patriots get back to the Super Bowl.
