FOXBORO, Mass. -- Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker are going to make plays.

The New England Patriots' offense struggled against the Philadelphia Eagles' defense when the competition picked up in full-team periods at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday. Philadelphia got to both Jacoby Brissett and Drake Maye with its pass-rush, including a stretch where Maye was "sacked" six times in nine drop backs.

But Polk and Baker, during periods when quarterbacks didn't face the threat of a pass-rush, added highlights to their training camp tape.

Polk was responsible for the first one as he connected with Maye during a 1-on-1 period. Polk beat Eagles cornerback Shon Stephens off the line of scrimmage and threw his hand in the air so Maye knew he was going deep. After Maye started the drill with three straight incompletions, the rookie lofted a perfectly-placed ball to Polk. Polk tracked it down and seemingly got his finger tips on it before bringing it in more securely. He celebrated accordingly.

Polk followed it up with a second 1-on-1 touchdown against Stephens after he broke inside and lost the depth cornerback, proving how the drill is catered to the offense with no safety help over the top.

Polk caught two passes during 11-on-11 drills before the wheels fell off for the offense. Both receptions came from Maye, the first on an in-breaking route and the second on a quick pass to the outside, which would have been a big gain on game day.

Baker was not as consistent as Polk, but again got the attention of those watching with an impressive grab during 7-on-7s. Maye found Baker on an over-the-shoulder ball down the sideline with Eagles cornerback Avonte Maddox in tight coverage. It marked Baker's lone catch in competitive drills after he won one of his two 1-on-1 matchups, a curl against cornerback Eli Ricks.

Polk and Baker figure to get plenty more run when the Patriots host the Eagles in a preseason game at Gillette Stadium on Thursday night.
