Bill Belichick in the media offered a fascinating opportunity to hear from one of the greatest minds in NFL history, but Patriots fans didn't get that chance after Week 1.

New England pulled off a huge upset win over the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium last Sunday. The victory was a statement for first-year head coach Jerod Mayo and starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

The Patriots still have a long way to go toward national relevancy, yet when Belichick appeared on the "Pat McAfee Show," the ESPN host didn't even acknowledge the Patriots. Instead, the eight-time Super Bowl champion spoke about other teams when he criticized Will Levis.

Belichick also was a guest on the "ManningCast," and he appeared on the "Let's Go" podcast. Once again, the hosts of those shows didn't ask the ex-New England head coach about his former team.

There doesn't seem to be a taboo subject for Belichick. He addressed the Patriots' offseason moves on his Underdog Fantasy show with Matt Patricia, and he's reviewed Drake Maye's tape multiple times.

Belichick might talk about the Patriots later in the week on the second episode of his Underdog show or on "Inside the NFL." But it was strange that it wasn't one of the first things that came to mind for hosts who had the time with Belichick.
