The New York Jets will be without ascending edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II for the remainder of the 2024 campaign.

Johnson on Monday morning confirmed he tore his Achilles in New York's 24-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters after the game it was likely Johnson tore it on the non-contact injury.

The 2022 first-round pick was viewed as a key piece on Gang Green's defensive front entering his third season. He recorded 7 1/2 sacks in 2023 and received a defensive grade of 83.0 from Pro Football Focus.

The Jets will try to overcome the loss of Johnson when they take on the New England Patriots on Thursday night.

As for the Patriots, New England will benefit from Johnson's absence after facing the Cincinnati Bengals without wide receiver Tee Higgins and Seattle Seahawks without running back Kenneth Walker II.

Jerod Mayo's team reportedly anticipates on having linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley back after the captain exited New England's Week 2 loss with a shoulder injury.
