Brooklyn Nets guard Ben Simmons has recently had several videos of him showing off improved jump shots hit the internet. The NBA star's recovery from back surgery in March has been long, but he anticipates being at Nets training camp without restrictions on Oct. 1.

NESN's George Balekji doesn't care about the videos and wants Simmons to be more aware and mature heading into the 2024-25 NBA season.

"I want that 16 (points), seven (assists) and eight (rebounds) Ben Simmons. That old defensive Ben Simmons," Balekji said on "Hold My Banner" on Tuesday. "If you never have a jumper, that is an indictment on you Ben Simmons.

"But stop the videos. There has to be maturity because those videos didn't come out of the gym without him saying, 'Yes.' ... You want maturity. You want awareness, and if he had any awareness within him and his circle, they would say, 'Stop. Just show up and play.'"

While Simmons' camp is basically saying he will be back and better than ever, Balekji believes the videos will only put more pressure and anxiety on the 28-year-old who has been unable to stay fit and play a full season over the past few years.

"Show up and play with that God-given ability and frame," Balekji said. "... I'm just so done with these videos coming out. ... Show up at camp. Show you're a full go. Show something for Brooklyn."
