The Patriots didn’t make a trade, but they reportedly made a transaction before the NFL deadline.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, New England signed offensive lineman Tyrese Robinson off the Minnesota Vikings practice squad on Tuesday. The 6-foot-3, 317-pound guard was undrafted coming out of Oklahoma and bounced from different practice squads in his NFL career.

The reported signing came after the interior offensive line had few answers against Tennessee Titans star Jeffrey Simmons. The issues were so bad that Layden Robinson was benched after the first half last Sunday. Drake Maye was able to overcome those issues with his ability to scramble, but head coach Jerod Mayo and his staff stressed they didn’t want to see the rookie take too many hits.

New England reportedly wanted to add more depth at wide receiver and the offensive line before the trade deadline, while also fielding offers for its players. So it’s possible executive vice president of player personnel Eliot Wolf and his staff continue to make moves after the reported Robinson signing.
