The New England Patriots might be catching the Chicago Bears at just the right time.

The Bears are no longer riding high from their three-game winning streak which culminated in Chicago’s butt-kicking of the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. The Bears lost on a Hail Mary in Week 8 when cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was more focused on taunting Washington Commanders fans instead of fulfilling his on-field responsibilities. Chicago followed that up with a 29-9 clunker against the Arizona Cardinals this past week.

The way the Bears no-showed their matchup against the Cardinals have many believing Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus lost the locker room. And star wide receiver DJ Moore didn’t put that notion to rest when asked about it Monday.

“I want to say no,” Moore told Chicago’s 670 The Score. “The message yesterday was that we know we’re 4-4 now. It’s just like being 0-0. But you just got to go out there and start stacking wins (like) how we did. And that’s the best thing we can do is win, and then let the chips fall how they fall after we do so.”

Not exactly a convincing response from Chicago’s leading receiver.

The Patriots, who didn’t pull off any notable moves before Tuesday’s deadline, are in a position to take advantage of the turmoil surrounding the Bears and obtain their third win of the season. But it’s not like the Patriots are a well-oiled machine capable of taking full advantage of the opportunity in front of them.

And the Bears could see the Patriots, who have lost to the Tyler Huntley-led Miami Dolphins and lowly Tennessee Titans already this season, as the ultimate get-right game.

Beating the Patriots on Sunday at Soldier Field actually could end up saving Eberflus his job. But a loss to New England and the coach could be sent packing.
