Matthew Stafford sees a bright future for the Patriots’ new franchise quarterback.
Stafford had a front-row seat to Drake Maye’s latest impressive showing Sunday. The 22-year-old Maye completed 30 of his 40 pass attempts for 282 yards with two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Rams. Stafford’s 295 passing yards and four touchdowns guided Los Angeles to a 28-22 triumph in New England.
It was a pretty fascinating quarterback matchup, as Maye was 7 years old when Stafford broke into the NFL as the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2009. The two-time Pro Bowl selection has seen it all in his Hall of Fame-caliber career, and he believes the Patriots have a true franchise cornerstone in Maye.
“It was fun to watch Drake play today,” Stafford told FOX Sports’ Kristina Pink. “He’s a hell of a talent. Seems to have his head on right and he’s gonna be a really good player for a long time.”
Stafford heaped more praise on Maye when he met with the media after the Rams improved to 5-5 on the season. The North Carolina product also was hyped up by LA head coach Sean McVay, who believes Maye “looks like a stud.”

New England’s promising QB will try to keep it rolling Sunday when the Patriots visit the Miami Dolphins.
