The Red Sox are staying busy at the start of MLB free agency, and not just when it comes to superstar Juan Soto.
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal on Thursday reported Boston has met with Blake Snell and is “talking to” both Corbin Burnes and Max Fried. They represent three of the top pitchers on the market with Snell (32) older than both Fried (31) and Burnes (30).
Fried is on vacation and will meet with clubs when he returns, Rosenthal wrote.
The Red Sox are not the only team doing so, of course. The Los Angeles Dodgers recently met with Snell and the Toronto Blue Jays are pursuing all three pitchers, according to Rosenthal. The New York teams “cannot be ruled out” and the Baltimore Orioles are another club seeking a top-end starter.
Burnes spent the 2024 campaign with the Orioles, but it reportedly is a “long shot” to return to Baltimore.
