The Boston Celtics squeaked by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday for their 14th win of the season.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with a combined 55 points, followed by Derrick White, who went 7-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-9 from beyond the arc for 19 points.
White not only contributed offensively for Boston, but the 6-foot-4 guard collected a pass that Tatum threw without really knowing where White was on the court.
“For some reason, I thought he was so much further ahead from (Anthony Edwards), I guess they were neck-and-neck when they started (up the court),” Tatum told reporters, per team-provided video. “He made me look good or made me not look bad by going to get (the ball). D White probably the fastest guy on our team. Hell of a play by him just to recover the ball.”
There was one thing White did in the game that Tatum joked about surprising him.

“He had nine rebounds tonight. That was surprising,” Tatum said with a chuckle. “But, no, D White is a hell of a player. A big part of our success. He always does the little things. Does the big things as well. He hits big shots and big plays. Gets blocks and we wouldn’t be who we are without him.”
White has averaged 18.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists across 16 games this season with the Celtics.
