Juan Soto on Tuesday revealed the start of a new chapter in his professional career.
But no, it wasn’t the announcement that will serve as the hallmark of the Major League Baseball offseason.
Soto took to Instagram to share a video that featured the caption “the announcement you’ve been waiting for” coupled with the eyeballs emoji. Unfortunately for fans impatiently waiting for Soto to make a decision about his MLB future, the clip was merely an announcement about a new sponsorship with Celsius.
The superstar free agent played into the hype surrounding the Soto sweepstakes, too, saying, “What, were you expecting a different announcement?” at the end of the video.
As for the impending decision that’s captivating the baseball world, we might not be too far away from receiving an answer. Soto reportedly has offers on the table and he’s widely expected to make his decision in early December.

But until then, Soto will continue having fun keeping people waiting.
