Bill Belichick is back in the coaching space, and all eyes were on one Patriots assistant.
Brian Belichick was scheduled to speak to reporters Thursday. However, it also was the day after his father was named North Carolina head coach. Naturally, there was a sizable crowd around the safeties coach.
Belichick was happy for his father and like many others, believes he’ll do a great job with the Tar Heels. However, he wasn’t as open when asked if he’d join his father at Chapel Hill.
“Personally, I have my hands full getting ready for today,” Belichick told reporters, per NBC Sports Boston’s Phil Perry. “… That’s my focus is going to Arizona and getting a win.”
Belichick did bring longtime colleague Michael Lombardi with him to North Carolina to be his general manager. It was reported that Matt Patricia could join Bill and Brian’s brother Steve reportedly could be his father’s successor.

There weren’t any reports regarding whether Brian will factor into any North Carolina plans. He was the lone Belichick who stuck around when Jerod Mayo took over as head coach, which could be a sour point for the family.
There might be more clarity on Brian Belichick’s future when the Patriots season ends, but Bill Belichick was introduced Thursday, so there’s still time to build out a staff.
