Garrett Crochet Takes To Instagram After Huge Trade To Red Sox

The Red Sox needed to add a frontline starting pitcher this MLB offseason, and they made a seismic move to land one.

Boston traded a total of four prospects, including two of its top five, to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for Garrett Crochet. The Red Sox landed a legitimate ace in Crochet, who doesn’t turn 26 until late June and is under team control for two more seasons.

With the trade to Boston, Crochet said goodbye to the franchise that drafted him 11th overall in 2020 and watched him become an All-Star in 2024. So while the star southpaw is excited to call Fenway Park home, he’ll maintain a place in his heart for the South Side of Chicago.

“Thank you to the White Sox organization for giving me a chance,” Crochet captioned an Instagram post after the deal was finalized. “I wore the uniform with pride and I’m grateful for the teammates and coaches I shared the field with. Excited for the new opportunity that lies ahead.”

Crochet won’t have to wait very long into his first regular season with the Red Sox to have an opportunity to pitch against his former club. Boston will be in Chicago for its fifth series of the campaign in mid-April.
