Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis left Boston’s game against the Washington Wizards on Sunday with a foot injury.
Porzingis appeared to injure his right foot after finishing an alley-oop with five minutes remaining in the second quarter. Although Porzingis limped off the court, he did head to the locker room on his own accord.
The Celtics announced Porzingis was “questionable to return” due to right heel pain, but he never did. Luke Kornet started the second half with Al Horford (rest) already sitting out Sunday’s contest.
The former Wizard was putting together one of his best games of the season since returning to the lineup after offseason leg surgery. In 11 minutes, Porzingis was 5-for-6 from the field scoring 11 points, helping the Celtics build a double-digit lead on the road.
Porzingis is averaging 20.3 points and 7.8 rebounds in six games this season. Porzingis tweaked his ankle in the Celtics’ shocking loss to the Memphis Grizzlies last week but did not miss significant time.
