The New England Patriots left the desert Sunday after their loss to the Arizona Cardinals probably not feeling good about much of their team.

That’s not the case when it comes to second-year cornerback Christian Gonzalez, though.

Gonzalez was one of a couple of bright spots for the Patriots in the 30-17 defeat due to his lockdown play on Cardinals standout rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Gonzalez clearly won the matchup between the two as he shadowed the 6-foot-4, 205-pound pass-catcher on 21 routes and allowed one catch for 23 yards on five targets with three pass break-ups, including two coming in the end zone, per Patriots.com’s Evan Lazar.

The Patriots on Tuesday released a mic’d up video of Gonzalez’s dominance of Harrison. The Patriots corner is a man of few words and didn’t need to trash talk to back up his performance, especially when he met up with Harrison after the game.

“Hey, keep going. You’re the truth,” Gonzalez told Harrison.

Gonzalez only got a “you too” response back from Harrison, but received bigger praise from Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray.

“Big fan, fella. Big fan, bro,” Murray said. “Keep doing your thing.”

The Patriots sure hope Gonzalez continues to shine as with each week, he’s cementing himself as one of the top players in the league at his position.
