Some Dodgers fans might have had bittersweet feelings about a certain gift they unwrapped Christmas Day.

Walker Buehler’s jersey might have been a popular present among Los Angeles supporters this year, as the right-hander was sensational in the 2024 MLB playoffs and sealed the Dodgers’ second World Series title in the last five years. But that clutch frame in New York against the Yankees proved to be Buehler’s last with his original club, as he reportedly agreed to a one-year contract with the Boston Red Sox on Monday.

Knowing folks in Chavez Ravine were pretty bummed about his exit, Buehler on Wednesday delivered a holiday message to Dodgers fans who showed him love since his rookie season in 2017.

“The No. 21 Dodgers unis you guys got today are still cool! Im gonna wear a different one next year but I appreciate y’all rockin em nonetheless!” Buehler posted to X.

No. 21 is available in Boston, so Buehler will be able to maintain jersey consistency once his Red Sox contract is finalized. And once the two-time All-Star signs on the dotted line, don’t be surprised if his new jersey becomes a very popular one among the Fenway Faithful.
