The New England Patriots have a decision to make for the franchise’s next head coach after they quickly moved on from Jerod Mayo at the conclusion of their 2024 season.
Mike Vrabel appears to be on that list of interest in the immediate developments after Mayo’s firing. His Patriots connections are obvious, his interest is apparent and New England’s decision to open up that job may lead Vrabel to the land where he thrived as a player.
SNY insider Connor Hughes shared this report just two days after Vrabel interviewed for the head coaching vacancy with the New York Jets.
“The Patriots are the team to watch for Mike Vrabel,” Hughes wrote on X Sunday evening. “Talked to multiple people after his interview with the Jets. All stressed same thing: New York has a really good shot … as long as the New England job doesn’t open. The Patriots just fired Jerod Mayo, per Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. We’ll see what happens now.”
It wouldn’t be the first time a coach with Patriots roots passed up the Jets for another chapter in New England.
