The Boston Red Sox still have legitimate intentions of upgrading their lineup through the addition of external right-handed power.
That type of bat would balance a lefty-heavy order and allow Boston to take another step toward the division contention the organization emphasized dating back to its end-of-season press conference.
Nolan Arenado and Alex Bregman continue to headline the discussions of such an addition and we’ve gone in-depth on what each player would bring to the Red Sox. Not bringing in either at this point would likely be a disappointment and limit Boston’s potential for 2025, even after impactful starting pitching moves to get Garrett Crochet.
Trevor Story is the lone infielder who stays at home in these scenarios regardless of the changes around him. Kristian Campbell, Boston’s hottest rising prospect entering 2025, absolutely needs to factor into these decisions for the season, though he cannot be the only right-handed addition to the Red Sox lineup.
These appear to be the infield looks Boston can consider if they make the trade for Arenado with the St. Louis Cardinals or strike the free-agent deal with Bregman.
