Patriots Sign Lineman Kendall Simmons

Somewhat lost in the shuffle of the Richard Seymour trade was the Patriots' signing of free-agent guard Kendall Simmons.

The 6-foot-3, 315-pound lineman was drafted in the first round of the NFL draft by the Steelers in 2002. He spent the past seven seasons in Pittsburgh, starting 81 regular-season games and seven postseason games. He started the first five games last year before suffering a season-ending Achilles injury.
