Russell Wilson, Jeff Green Go Head-To-Head In Unusual Super Bowl Prop Bets

The brilliance of the Super Bowl includes its many unusual prop bets. For example, this season Bovada will have upward of 800 props on the Denver Broncos-Seattle Seahawks game. Some of the most popular ones are those that match another sport with an individual result in the Super Bowl.

The Boston Celtics host the Orlando Magic on Super Bowl Sunday. It’s the only NBA game of the day — no American sports league dares go head-to-head with the Super Bowl and start a game at the same time.

Two props are available on the Magic-Celtics game. The first is the total number of points for Boston leading scorer Jeff Green (-130) against the number of completions in the game for Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (even). Green is averaging 16.0 points per game entering this week, although he struggled mightily in Sunday’s loss to the Brooklyn Nets. He did have a season-high 39 points last Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, a rare Celtics win. On Nov. 8, the C’s won 91-89 in Orlando, and Green was limited to 10 points on 5-for-14 shooting.

Seattle’s Wilson didn’t throw a ton during the season, as Seattle generally is a run-first team with Marshawn Lynch. Wilson completed only 257 passes (16 per game), almost half as many as Broncos counterpart Peyton Manning. Wilson completed just nine of 18 passes in the Seahawks’ wild-card win over the New Orleans Saints and 16 of 25 in the NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers. He hasn’t completed as many as 20 passes since Dec. 2. The Broncos likely are going to sell out to stop Lynch, so Wilson might have to throw more for Seattle to win.

The other prop is on the total number of rebounds by Magic rookie Victor Oladipo (-130) against the number of catches for Seattle leading receiver Golden Tate (even). Oladipo, the No. 2 overall pick out of Indiana who averages 4.5 rebounds per game, had six rebounds in 39 minutes in the last meeting between the teams on Jan. 19. The Magic won 93-91, snapping their 10-game losing streak.

Tate led the Seahawks with 98 targets and 64 catches during the regular season with projected No. 1 receiver Percy Harvin hurt all year. Harvin is back now, so that could mean fewer throws Tate’s way. Tate had just one catch against the Saints and four against the 49ers in these playoffs. His season high for catches is eight.

Bets are also available on the English Premier League match Sunday night between Liverpool, owned by Red Sox owner John Henry, and West Brom. Liverpool’s goals total is -150 against Wilson’s touchdown passes (+120). Liverpool beat West Brom 4-1 earlier this season and is No. 2 in the Premier League in scoring.
