I’d just like to start by sending best wishes to Cody Parkey, as the kicker who led my team to the 2014 championship game and has been placed on season-ending injured reserve.
We’d also like to apologize for ranking Robbie Gould No. 1 last week and (in advance) for keeping him on the list this week.
Finally, a reminder: Kickers are like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re gonna get.
Here we go.
1. Josh Brown, New York Giants
Week 4 Opponent: Buffalo Bills
2015 Stats: 9 of 9 field goals, (3 of 3 40-49, 1 of 1 50+)
Brown could be the Obi-Wan Kenobi for the Giants this week: Their only hope of scoring.
2. Robbie Gould, Chicago Bears
Week 4 Opponent: Oakland Raiders
2015 Stats: 6 of 6 field goals (2 of 2 40-49 yards, 2 of 2 50+ yards)
It’s clear Chicago will do two things on offense: punt or kick field goals. Let’s hope Gould gets on the scoreboard this week.
3. Steven Hauschka, Seattle Seahawks
Week 4 Opponent: Detroit Lions
2015 Stats: 8 of 8 field goals (2 of 2 40-49 yards, 1 of 1 50+)
Seattle is more than happy to kick field goals when its defense is playing as well as it did in Week 3’s shutout.
4. Brandon McManus, Denver Broncos
Week 4 Opponent: Minnesota Vikings
2015 Stats: 6 of 6 field goals (2 of 2 40-49, 3 of 3 50+)
Ditto what I said about Hauschka. This guy can boot it.
5. Mason Crosby, Green Bay Packers
Week 4 Opponent: San Francisco 49ers
2015 Stats: 6 of 6 field goals (2 of 2 40-49, 1 of 1 50+)
With great offense comes great opportunity. Peter Parker — er, I mean, Mason Crosby — will thrive against the 49ers this week, who are my early pick as the worst team in the NFL this season.
6. Matt Bryant, Atlanta Falcons
Week 4 Opponent: Houston Texans
2015 Stats: 6 of 6 field goals (4 of 4 40-49)
I’ll repeat what I said last week: Red-hot offense + dome = fantasy success.
7. Dan Bailey, Dallas Cowboys
Week 4 Opponent: New Orleans Saints
2015 Stats: 4 of 4 field goals
The ground-and-pound, checkdown offense will only last so long. Bailey will get his chances, despite not attempting a field goal in Week 3.
8. Sebastian Janikowski, Oakland Raiders
Week 4 Opponent: Chicago Bears
2015 Stats: 5 of 5 field goals (2 of 2 40-49 yards)
Yeah, he still plays. He’s silently found his way into the Top 10 in overall points again as well.
9. Justin Tucker, Baltimore Ravens
Week 4 Opponent: Pittsburgh Steelers
2015 Stats: 7 of 8 field goals (1 of 1 40-49, 0 of 1 50+)
Tucker finally missed a kick, but it came from outside 50 yards. He’s got the early game this week, though, so heads up.
10. Greg Zuerlein, St. Louis Rams
Week 3 Opponent: Arizona Cardinals
2015 Stats: 5 of 5 field goals (1 of 1 40-49 yards, 1 of 1 50+)
If you’re desperate.
