The NBA season is upon us, and the burning question isn’t who will win the 2017 title, but how much they’ll win it by.
Such is the state of the league after the Golden State Warriors somehow made a 73-win team better by adding perennial All-Star Kevin Durant this offseason. This superteam to end all superteams enters the 2016-17 campaign with ridiculously high expectations, and its odds to hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy reflect that.
The Warriors are odds-on favorites to win it all at -125, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark. Their next-closest competitors are the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers at +300, followed by the San Antonio Spurs at +900.
Oddsmakers see a pretty wide gulf between those three and the rest of the NBA, but there’s a new addition to the top five: The Boston Celtics have the fourth-best title odds at +1800 after adding All-Star Al Horford to a team that won 48 games last season. The Los Angeles Clippers come in at fifth with +2500 odds.
