Social Media Craze Seemingly Prompts Bettors To Go Nuts On NFL Long Shot

Zamir White is top of mind for the betting public.

The Las Vegas Raiders running back, who recently posted a photo to Instagram looking absolutely jacked, is far and away BetMGM’s biggest liability to lead the league in rushing yards.

White is responsible for 43.5% of the handle and 27% of tickets at BetMGM.

While the departure of Josh Jacobs and Las Vegas’ quarterback situation might play a role, it’s impossible not to correlate White’s viral photo to the influx in wagers.

After all, social media users flooded the timeline over the last few days with high expectations of White simply because he looked massive in a recent workout photo. ML Football had nearly 600,000 views of the photo while Pro Football Focus had 269,000 views, to name a few.

“Zamir White looks like an absolute unit in new instagram story post,” a Reddit user wrote Tuesday.

The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, who covers the Raiders, posted: “Two weeks until camp. RB Zamir White may get some reps at (linebacker) lol.”

While the betting public is all of the Georgia product, oddsmakers aren’t getting sucked into the craze. White remains 30-1 to lead the league in rushing after opening 35-1 at BetMGM.
