Patriots linebacker Adalius Thomas was absent from the first day of New England's offseason program on Monday, but according to Thomas, that has nothing to do with his future with the football team.

Or any other AFC East team for that matter.

Reports surfaced this offseason that the veteran linebacker was planning to reunite with his former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan, now the head coach of the New York Jets.

That rumor, started by Jets linebacker and former Ravens teammate Bart Scott on ESPN's Mike and Mike Show, isn't true, according to an email Thomas sent to the Boston Herald.

“I’ve heard of all the chatter up there about me,” Thomas wrote in am email to the Boston Herald. “It was about something Bart Scott said on TV, [and] that’s not what was said. I have never told anyone that I wanted to leave and go play for the Jets.

“I have been asked by coaches, reporters [and] players, ‘Where are [you] going to play next year?’ And my response has been, 'I don’t know,'” Thomas added. “I’m still a Patriot unless you know something I don’t know, but reporters report any type of hype. Not once did anyone of [the media] pick up the phone or e-mail and ask if [that] was what I said. So I’m a Patriot until otherwise noted from Bill [Belichick] or the organization."
