The Boston Red Sox have signed Cuban catcher Adalberto Ibarra, according to a report on Cubanballplayers.com.

The Boston Globe confirmed the report with Ibarra's agent.

Ibarra, 23, has played for Cuban team Camaguey, playing first, second and third base. In the 2008-09 season, he hit .363 and clubbed 25 doubles.

The deal is reportedly worth $4.3 million over five years, with a signing bonus of $1.5 million.

If the Red Sox plan on using Ibarra as a catcher, he'll be included with Luis Exposito, Mark Wagner and Tim Federowicz in the Sox' minor league system.
