With Kendrick Perkins on the mend and Rasheed Wallace heading toward retirement, the Celtics are in need of a man in the middle.

According to Yahoo! Sports, they have found one in free-agent center Jermaine O'Neal, who reportedly accepted the C's offer of a two-year deal worth about $12 million.

The 31-year-old O'Neal averaged 13.6 points and 6.9 rebounds for the Heat last season. The 6-foot-11, 255-pounder has played in 862 career games with the Blazers, Pacers, Raptors and Heat. He has averaged 14.2 points and 7.5 rebounds in his career. In six straight seasons from 2001-07, he averaged at least 19 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

He had been considering joining the Nuggets and Mavericks, in addition to the C's.
