Shaquille O’Neal Set Career-Highs in Rebounds, Blocks in Second Season in NBA

Shaquille O’Neal started finding his way into the NBA record books in just his second season in the league.

On Nov. 20, 1993, Shaq, then a member of the Orlando Magic, posted the first triple-double of his professional career against the New Jersey Nets. The big fella scored 24 points, grabbed a career-high 28 rebounds and blocked 15 shots — tying Manute Bol for second all-time in a single NBA game.

It was the first of O’Neal’s two career triple-doubles. His second came on April 11, 2006, as a member of the Miami Heat, when he put up 15 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists.

Those numbers seem paltry compared to what Shaq did as a 21-year-old monster in the Meadowlands.

NESN.com will showcase one Moment of Shaq every day until the Celtics open the season against the Heat on Oct. 26 at the TD Garden.

Thursday, Oct. 14: Shaq shows it all off.
