Red Sox fans may see manager Terry Francona handing the ball off from one Buchholz to another in 2011, as the Sox have claimed right-handed reliever Taylor Buchholz off waivers from Toronto on Monday.

Theo Epstein announced the transaction, which brings the current tally to 36 spots filled on the team’s roster.

Buchholz has a career 4.39 ERA in four seasons in the majors and posted a 3.75 ERA in Colorado and Toronto last season, after missing 2009 with Tommy John surgery.

The 29-year old is not related to Clay Buchholz.
