Marc Savard's 2010-11 season has officially ended.

Savard, general manager Peter Chiarelli and Dr. Peter Asnis announced on Monday that the center was shutting it down for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs after receiving his second concussion in less than a year against the Avalanche on Jan. 22, 2011.

The B's center received his first concussion on March 7, 2010 against the Penguins.

The 33-year-old played his first game of the 2010-11 season on Dec. 2 after missing the season’s first 23 games with post-concussion symptoms. In 25 games this year, Savard registered two goals and eight assists for 10 points. In 304 games for Boston in his four-plus years with the club, Savard has registered 74 goals and 231 assists for 305 points.

He has no plans to retire.

"I've obviously tried to stay away from that right now, as tough as it is not to be able to finish the season," Savard said at Monday's news conference. "I'm gonna get some more medical stuff done, some tests, and then I'll be able to make a clearer decision on what my future is. Right now, I'm hoping to be able to continue it at some point."
