The Red Sox have added a new pitcher to their stable. According to Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, Boston has agreed to a minor league deal with veteran right-hander Kevin Millwood.

The two sides have been linked in rumors for a day or two as the team’s starting rotation began to succumb to injuries. John Lackey was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a right elbow strain and Daisuke Matsuzaka was sent to the DL on Wednesday with a sprained right elbow.

Josh Beckett left his start Thursday night after throwing just 83 pitches, despite leading 2-1 through six innings.

Millwood went 4-16 with a 5.10 ERA for Baltimore last year. He was in the New York Yankees’ organization this year, going 2-1 in three starts between Double- and Triple-A, but utilized an opt-out clause in his contract that allowed him to leave if he was not called up by May 1.

The 36-year-old Millwood is 159-137 with a 4.11 mark in 414 career outings. He won the American League ERA crown in 2005 with Cleveland.
