Similar to all other professional sports, players from large market teams were voted into the MLS All-Star game.

The first XI, the top 11 vote-getters in the fan vote, were revealed Sunday on ESPN. The Los Angeles Galaxy are represented by four All-Stars, while the New York Red Bulls have three representatives.

Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan and New York Red Bulls Thierry Henry, who share the league lead with nine goals, will start at forward along with San Jose Earthquakes star Chris Wondolowski.

With eight assists, LA's David Beckham leads the way at midfield. Jack Jewsbury, playing his first season with the Portland Timbers, was selected for a midfield spot as was Brek Shea of FC Dallas.

Galaxy players Omar Gonzalez and Sean Franklin anchor the defense along with Red Bulls Rafa Márquez and Tim Ream.

Seattle Sounders goalie Kasey Keller earned his third consecutive start in net.

Defender Matt Besler of Sporting Kansas City was also named to the team after being the AT&T Text Voting Winner.

Despite fan voting, coach Hans Backe can still choose his own starting lineup based on player availability and strategy.

The MLS All-Star team will take on English Premier League champions Manchester United on July 27 at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.
