The NFL lockout appeared to be heading toward an end on Thursday night when the owners agreed to a new labor deal putting the pressure on the players to agree and end the lockout. However, the players don't exactly see it that way.
An NFL player who was on the conference call with other league player reps told NESN.com's Jeff Howe that the players will not vote on ratification on Thursday night. The players are upset with the owners, as the general consensus among the players is that the owners agreed to the new deal as a public relations move more than anything else.
In fact, the rep revealed that the players have yet to see the proposal that the owners have voted on. The players are still trying to figure out what exactly the proposal entails, and the general consensus among the other player reps is that the owners are trying to strong-arm and back the players into a corner.
When asked what the next step for the players would be, the player responded, "wait to see what the hell they voted on [Thursday]."
The players have also made it pretty clear that they don't intend on voting on the new proposal on Thursday.
"There's no way to agree or disagree if we haven't seen the proposal," the rep told Howe.
